PUCHONG:
The human resources ministry plans to slash the processing time for levy claims from employers from one week to one hour, minister Steven Sim said today.

“As for training providers, we are targeting only three days,” he said.

Sim said a record-breaking RM2.3 billion in levies was collected by the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) last year, the highest in its 32-year history.

He said the approval rate for levy claims last year reached 98%, an increase of 29 percentage points compared to 2023.

“For us, the mandate is clear; it is not just to collect levy, but we want to ensure that the levy is fully utilised,” he said at a Chinese New Year open house in Puchong.
