PETALING JAYA:
Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) is investigating a bullying case involving students at a Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in the north, following a viral video.

In a video on Facebook, Mara chairman Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said an internal investigation identified the school in which the case occurred.

“I have ordered my officers to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident,” he said.

Asyraf called for the students involved to be suspended during the course of the investigation, and reiterated his zero-tolerance stance on bullying, reminding the public of the strict policy under his leadership.

“This is so they won’t disturb the investigation, and to send the message that we will not compromise on bullying.

“I want to remind every student: you touch, you go,” he said.

In 2021, a Mara boarding school in Perak expelled 10 students over their alleged involvement in a bullying incident.

A student was assaulted by his peers for allegedly telling off one of them for watching pornography on his mobile phone.

Following similar bullying cases in other schools, Asyraf warned bullies last year that they will be shown the door.

He said bullies need not bother appealing to Mara institutions for sympathy or to be reconsidered for admission as students have repeatedly been warned not to engage in bullying.
