PETALING JAYA:
The government has agreed to give all judges a 30% pay raise from Jan 1, 2026, says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar said the last time the salaries of judges were raised was in 2015, adding that they do not receive annual increments like other civil service schemes.

“They are also not permitted to hold positions (in the public or private sector) or operate their own businesses.

“That said, with the judicial system once deemed to have been tainted, we can now take pride that it is moving towards greater authority, integrity, and independence.

“In that spirit, the government has agreed to raise the salaries of judges by 30% from Jan 1,” he said when tabling the 2026 budget.

Anwar also announced that all Cabinet members will continue taking a 20% pay cut.
