PETALING JAYA:
The allocation for the Orang Asli communities will be increased to RM412 million under the 2026 budget, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.

Anwar said the sum does not include the allocation for the Bumiputera community, a category which the Orang Asli also come under.

“We are determined to ensure that the Orang Asli are not marginalised, in line with the principle of ‘leave no one behind’,” he said when tabling the national budget in the Dewan Rakyat.

The government will also table amendments to the Orang Asli Act to better protect the communities’ rights and interest, especially in matters relating to their welfare and land, Anwar said.

He also said that the government will set aside RM155 million to upgrade roads in Orang Asli villages and build new ones.
