PETALING JAYA:
The Securities Commission Malaysia has appointed Manoj Kurup as its new executive director of enforcement, effective today.

Manoj was most recently head of the Attorney-General’s Chambers’ prosecution division, and was head of the AGC’s appellate and trial division before that.

He began his legal career in 1990 and has more than three decades of experience serving in the judiciary and legal service.

He was also part of the Malaysian prosecution team on the joint investigation of the MH17 tragedy.

Manoj replaces Budiman Lutfi Mohamed, who was appointed a judicial commissioner of the High Court of Malaya on April 1.

SC chairman Faiz Azmi expressed confidence that Manoj’s appointment would strengthen the commission’s enforcement capabilities.

“Manoj brings with him deep legal expertise and leadership to the SC. His extensive experience will further strengthen our enforcement efforts as we continue to uphold market integrity and protect investors,” he said in a statement.
