Melaka religious affairs committee chairman Rahmad Mariman said the demolition, scheduled for 2.30pm, would be led by Serkam assembyman Zaidi Attan and monitored by local authorities, Berita Harian reported.
He said the shrine’s owner was not linked to any sectarian or deviant teachings, despite viral social media claims.
“However, the Melaka Islamic religious department and the police will still conduct further investigations to determine the cause of the incident,” he told reporters today.
The shrine is located in a mangrove forest near a beach and fenced-up private land.
It is believed to have been built two to three years ago, although the Islamic inscriptions were only discovered yesterday.
