KUALA LUMPUR:
The High Court has set June 10 to deliver its ruling in the multi-million ringgit lawsuit filed by Lebanese jeweller Global Royalty Trading SAL against Rosmah Mansor.

Justice Quay Chew Soon fixed the date after senior federal counsel Siti Aishah Ramlan informed the court that all six witnesses called by the police had completed their testimony. The police were brought in by Rosmah as a third party in the suit.

Quay instructed the three parties to file their closing submissions by May 15, and their replies by May 28.

Among the witnesses who testified for the police over the last two days were former Bukit Aman commercial crime investigation department chief Amar Singh, his then-deputy Sakri Arifin, and 1MDB investigating officer Foo Wei Min.

Earlier today, contractor Chong Tong Leong also gave his testimony.

Chong said he had been in the midst of carrying out renovation works at Unit 45 in Pavilion Residences between March and May 2018.

He said that on May 14, he went to the unit to continue work and found several large bags in one of the rooms. Chong told the court the bags had not been there previously.

“I left the unit immediately because I was worried something might have happened,” he said.

In 2023, Global Royalty filed a suit against Rosmah seeking the return of 43 items of jewellery, or their purported value of US$14.6 million.

In her defence, Rosmah said the 44 jewellery items in her possession were transferred from Seri Perdana to Pavilion Residences for temporary storage.

She said all items were seized by the police during a raid conducted shortly after the 15th general election.

One item of jewellery was returned to the company by the police in 2022.
