PETALING JAYA:
Former Umno Youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin has welcomed his readmission into Umno, saying he is ready to serve, having gained valuable perspective during his time outside the party.

In a Facebook post, Khairy thanked Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and the Supreme Council for their decision to allow him back into the party’s fold.

“I accept this decision with humility and gratitude, fully conscious of the enormous responsibility that comes with it.

“My time outside the party has given me the space for reflection and self-improvement,” said the former minister and Rembau MP.

Khairy said his return to Umno is not with any demand, but with a firm resolve to serve and contribute in the best way possible to strengthen the party.

“I am ready to work with leaders at all levels, as well as grassroots members, to restore public confidence in the party. May this decision mark a new beginning for us to move forward with greater unity, maturity, and credibility,” he said.

Khairy was accepted back into the party under the “Rumah Bangsa” initiative following a Supreme Council meeting last night.

Former vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein’s suspension has also been lifted, while former federal minister Syed Hamid Albar, who left Umno for Bersatu in 2018, has been readmitted along with 6,252 former members across various levels.

Khairy was sacked in January 2023 following disciplinary action linked to the 15th general election, while Hishammuddin, who is MP for Sembrong, was suspended for six years in 2023 over alleged breaches of party discipline.
