PETALING JAYA:
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today stressed that any allegations linking him to funds stashed offshore must be backed by solid evidence.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Johor Bahru, Anwar said he did not want to entertain any baseless claims against him, reported Berita Harian.

“I have a lot of work to do. If there is no proof, I will not entertain (the claims). If there is proof, present it. If not, (the claims) are just slander,” he said.

Anwar was asked to respond to claims in a video being circulated online that his former officers had siphoned national funds, which they stashed overseas for safekeeping.

The video also claimed the former officers were acting on his instructions.

Anwar said his administration, which is focused on the numerous demands associated with managing the country, cannot address every unsupported claim shared online.
