MACC investigations division senior director Hafaz Nazar said Chai was released at 6.45pm today after concluding his second round.
“The recording of his statement will resume for the third day tomorrow at 10am,” he said in a statement.
Chai arrived at 9.45am to continue giving his statement in an ongoing MACC investigation into alleged misconduct linked to a RM1.1 billion government deal with chipmaker Arm Holdings signed in March last year.
Yesterday, he spent about eight-and-a-half hours giving his statement to MACC officers after returning from the UK, where he is currently based.
MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki previously said 12 witnesses from various government agencies, including a former minister, had given their statements to assist in the investigation.
The other officials included top officers in the economy ministry, the investment, trade and industry ministry, and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority.
