Queen to address Tashkent conference on Islamic civilisations

Raja Zarith Sofiah, as chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, will also witness the signing of several memoranda with universities in Uzbekistan.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The Raja Permaisuri Agong, Raja Zarith Sofiah, arrived in Tashkent today for a special visit to Uzbekistan during which she will deliver an address at a conference on scientific traditions in Islamic civilisations.

Raja Zarith will attend the conference in her capacity as chancellor of University Teknologi Malaysia. The minister of higher education, Zambry Abdul Kadir, is also scheduled to attend the conference.

The queen is also scheduled to witness the exchange of five memoranda between UTM and the Centre of Islamic Civilisation as well as universities in Uzbekistan.
