PETALING JAYA:
The political crisis in Negeri Sembilan should serve as a lesson for Pakatan Harapan component members and supporters to remain calm and united, says menteri besar Aminuddin Harun.

Speaking at a PH ceramah held in Paroi, Seremban, tonight, Aminuddin said the episode, which saw Barisan Nasional’s 14 assemblymen withdrawing support for him, was a lesson for all.

“What has happened is a lesson, a learning experience for us, so that we know how to remain calm, patient, observe, and not panic,” he said.

Aminuddin admitted that he and other PH colleagues were caught off guard by the developments, particularly the sudden withdrawal of support for him by BN.

“I am human. I feel hurt. I feel affected. Our fellow supporters were also shocked. What happened on April 27 was something completely beyond our plans or knowledge,” he said.

The PKR vice-president, however, urged PH component members and supporters to prioritise unity within the coalition.

He said Negeri Sembilan voters should be prepared for the possibility of a snap state election, citing continued dissatisfaction among certain quarters.

“I want the people of Negeri Sembilan to be prepared to face elections.

“What is important today is that we must strengthen ourselves. We must strengthen our machinery – Amanah, PKR, DAP. Within PH, we must be prepared in Negeri Sembilan,” he said.

The political crisis in Negeri Sembilan was triggered after all 14 Umno-BN assemblymen withdrew their support for Aminuddin over his handling of the crisis involving four chieftains seeking to remove the Yang di-Pertuan Besar.

Government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil said earlier today the crisis had been resolved following a meeting between top leaders of PH and Umno.

He said the unity government in Negeri Sembilan would continue to function as normal under Aminuddin’s leadership, with any future disputes to be referred to the central leadership.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has also said the party remained committed to the unity state government and had never discussed replacing Aminuddin as menteri besar.

Negeri Sembilan Umno maintains that it has lost confidence in Aminuddin, though it said it would abide by the central leadership’s decision to back the unity government.
