Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said seven foreign nationals, including a woman, believed to be drug mules were arrested.
“Six of the suspects tested positive for drugs,” he said at a press conference today.
Police also confiscated RM580, €20 and a designer watch worth RM80,000.
Shazeli said the raids at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Kota Warisan, Sepang, were conducted between April 28 and 30.
Police seized 64 plastic packets of suspected marijuana buds, with an estimated street value of RM5.4 million, in the first raid. Another 59 packets, also believed to be marijuana buds, with an estimate street value of RM2.4 million were seized in the second raid.
Shazeli said police seize four suitcases containing 109 plastic packages filled with marijuana buds, with a street value of RM4.8 million, in the third raid.
He said the syndicates may have lured the suspects, who did not have criminal records, to become mules by offering them between RM13,000 and RM26,000 for one trip.
“The drugs were meant to be smuggled to Europe,” he said, adding that the syndicate had an international drug trafficking network, and an investigation was ongoing to identify where the drugs were sourced from.
