Remand extended for 2 suspects in Ketereh murder probe

Their previous seven-day remand ended today.

KOTA BHARU:
Two youths detained to assist investigations into the murder of a female college student found with 61 stab wounds have had their remand extended for another week.

The remand order for the two 19-year-old suspects was issued by magistrate Rais Imran Hamid at the magistrates’ court here today.

The suspects arrived at the court at 8.50am wearing the lock-up uniform, handcuffed and escorted by police officers.

They were previously remanded for seven days. Their initial remand period ended today.

In the incident on May 1, the victim’s body was found with 61 stab wounds on a road near a padi field in Kampung Simah, Ketereh.

She is believed to have been killed elsewhere and her body dumped at the location.

Four suspects aged between 19 and 66 were subsequently arrested to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Two elderly individuals were released after being remanded for three days.
