PETALING JAYA:
A 49-year-old man from New Zealand landed in the hospital after colliding with a motorcyclist while allegedly jaywalking at Jalan Chow Kit in Kuala Lumpur early this morning.

KL traffic investigation and enforcement chief Zamzuri Isa said the incident, which left the 26-year-old motorcyclist with minor injuries, occurred at around 2.37am today.

Due to the collision, the pedestrian suffered a broken leg as well as injuries to his head and right arm. He is being treated at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

“It is believed that the accident occurred when the man suddenly crossed the road at a section that was not meant for pedestrian crossing.

“We have conducted further investigation into the incident, including checking CCTV footage, visiting the scene of the incident and recording the statements of the parties involved,” he said in a statement.

Zamzuri added that the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
