Bersatu secretary-general Azmin Ali said this was among several issues discussed at the party’s Supreme Council meeting last night, chaired by president Muhyiddin Yassin.
“The council appointed Hilman as Bersatu’s representative to the PN Supreme Council. As a young leader, he is expected to bring fresh perspectives and dynamism to the coalition’s leadership,” he said in a statement.
Other Bersatu leaders on the PN Supreme Council include Azmin, as one of the coalition’s deputy secretaries-general; Radzi Jidin, the PN election director; and Nolee Ashilin Radzi, the Wanita chief.
Azmin said the Bersatu Supreme Council agreed to hold a high-level strategic discussion session with leaders from Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka in June to refine new strategies aimed at gathering public support and advancing the shared prosperity agenda.
He said Bersatu appointed him as election director for the impending general and state elections. Larut MP and former Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin held the post before he was sacked by the party in February.
He said Bersatu’s war room will begin operations on June 1, equipped with advanced technology and a digital election operations system using the Siber platform.
He said auditing and field monitoring operations using the Nadi application, led by party vice-president Ahmad Faizal Azumu, will expand to Bersatu’s focus areas starting today.
The council also supported efforts by the information division, led by Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, to strengthen outreach and strategic communications aimed at reinforcing the party’s moderate, progressive and caring image through its people-centric policies and initiatives.
Azmin said the council discussed efforts to strengthen cooperation among the component parties in PN, and expressed confidence that harmony and unity within the coalition would bolster public support for PN ahead of the coming elections.
Additionally, the council reviewed the special task force’s report on restructuring divisions, and agreed to confirm the appointments of Abdul Azim Zabidi as Lembah Pantai division chief, and Safian Yunus as Bandar Tun Razak division chief.
