Speaking at a Pakatan Harapan convention in Johor Bahru today, the Negeri Sembilan PH chief likened the state government to a “large ship” built collectively.
“Negeri Sembilan has a large ship that we built together, it is strong and impressive. We have travelled a long journey together,” he said in his speech.
“Suddenly, (some people) who were previously loyal said they felt hot, uncomfortable, and started tapping from inside. Water started coming into the ship.
“When there are leaks, it shows betrayal. They should have resolved the issue properly, but unfortunately they chose their own path, which shocked the nation.”
The remarks come in the wake of a political crisis in Negeri Sembilan when all 14 Umno assemblymen withdrew their support for Aminuddin on April 27.
They cited a loss of confidence in Aminuddin, a PKR vice-president, over his handling of a dispute involving four chieftains who had sought to remove the Yang di-Pertuan Besar.
On May 6, government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil said the situation was resolved following discussions between top Barisan Nasional and PH leaders.
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has also said the party remained committed to the unity state government and had never discussed replacing Aminuddin as menteri besar.
However, Negeri Sembilan Umno maintains that it has lost confidence in Aminuddin, though it said it would abide by the central leadership’s decision to support the unity government.
