PETALING JAYA:
Umno has decided to postpone this year’s delegates’ meetings for its divisions, as well as the Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings, in view of the Johor state election.

Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said this is to allow members at all levels to fully focus on preparations for the state polls, expected to be held soon.

“The delegates’ meetings will be held simultaneously nationwide from July 17 to 19, in accordance with the Umno constitution,” he said in a statement today.

The Johor legislative assembly was dissolved on Monday, paving the way for the 16th state election to be held within 60 days.

Barisan Nasional, Pakatan Harapan, and Perikatan Nasional are expected to compete for all 56 seats up for grabs.

BN held 40 seats, PH 12, PN three, and Muda one before the dissolution.
