A neighbourhood icon for the past 16 years, Meatology is a little culinary secret in the heart of Taman Tun Dr Ismail. Founded by chef and author Yenni Law, the restaurant has stood the test of time.

And it is no surprise that it has lasted this long – anyone who has ever dined here can attest to the superb service and excellent food.
Stepping into the restaurant, you are greeted by a casual, comfortable dining environment for friends and family, albeit with the safety of social distancing.
Upon being seated, you are handed a thick menu that will make your head spin. And with so many delicious offerings, it may be hard to decide which to enjoy.

Not to worry though, if you’re lucky, the chef herself will be out and about, ready to recommend her restaurant’s finest.
Perhaps start off with an appetiser that will leave you feeling a little French, a treat of Escargot. Snails are from the same family as cockles and clams. Rich with protein, they have a mild flavour and tender texture, similar to mussels.

When all the snails have been slurped up, you will probably be licking the plate; that’s how good the secret cream sauce is.
Do you love anything that says oink? Then the Char Siew Yuk is Meatology’s gift just for you. A slab of pork belly marinated for over 48 hours in a secret char siew sauce, this non-halal dish is an addictive fusion of sweet char siew and crunchy siew yuk.
Needless to say, once you pop one piece into your mouth, there’s no stopping. It’s little wonder this dish is Law’s pride and joy.

If you are interested in fowl rather than red meat, Meatology has you covered with its Award-Winning Duck Breast, so named due to its recognition in a culinary competition.
This house-smoked duck breast comes hot and fresh out of the oven and is served with a citrus trinity sauce. Remember to coat a slice of duck with the tangy sauce before devouring it for full enjoyment.

Given that this is the season to be jolly, the Roast Smoked Turkey is one of this month’s seasonal highlights, and it’s easy to see why people from far and wide come to savour it.
A tender portion of turkey for one, it comes with the traditional two sauce options, giblet gravy and cranberry sauce.
If you’re looking for something more savoury with your meat, then the giblet gravy is for you, while the cranberry sauce is for those who prefer a bit of sweetness.

If you happen to have some cash to burn, then you should certainly spend it on the Flambé Flank Wagyu, a culinary experience like no other.
Ordering this entitles you to a live cooking demonstration by Law, who will cook the exclusive meat at your table, with flames shooting out of the pan thanks to the alcohol within.
As to be expected of its legendary reputation, the flavour of this Wagyu beef is out of this world.

With its tender, juicy and wholesome taste, you may be surprised that the meat does not come with the usual choice of mushroom or black pepper sauce.
Instead, you are presented with five types of salt, each with its own distinct taste. This is one dish you must try at least once in your lifetime.
And after such feasting, what better way to end things than with a helping of cold dessert?

The Real Rum and Raisin Pie is just the treat to conclude your feast with a boozy twist. Each raisin has the distinct taste of rum and when eaten together with cold ice cream, this pie is guaranteed to leave you satisfied.
And since you are already enjoying the booze, why not try Meatology’s Asam Martini, which blends the cold martini with the sour taste of asam.
It’s a strangely refreshing drink that will leave you a little pink in the cheeks but happier all the same.

The Perak-born Law told FMT she loves to be able to come up with her own dishes. With a free hand allowing her to explore and combine ingredients, she said there is nothing better than the wonderful feeling of watching someone enjoy their food.
“To be able to feed people, it’s honourable. When people are hungry and you’re able to satisfy that, it’s a noble thing to do.”
She said she hopes to wow customers with good food and service with a heart. Needless to say, that promise will always be kept once you set foot into the culinary treasure that is Meatology.
