PETALING JAYA:
A twitter user has landed himself in trouble with the police after referring to Umno as “nazis” who engaged in “ethnic cleansing”.

In a reply to a tweet by Afif Bahardin of PKR, about how Barisan Nasional had recently rejected the Opposition’s motion in Parliament to debate the Rohingya issue, the user, @bvadivel, responded by accusing Umno of “ethnic cleansing” during the May 13, 1969 and Kampung Medan, 2001 riots.

“@afifbahardin 1969 ethnic cleansing of Chinese in KL. 2001 ethnic cleansing of Indians in Kg Medan. Both by Umno nazis,” he tweeted earlier this morning.

Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar posted the “seditious” tweet response on his own Twitter account and ordered the Police Cyber Investigation Response Centre (PCIRC) to pursue the matter.

“PCIRC @PDRMsia track this tweet handler and take action for incitement and abusing social media,” the IGP tweeted.

@bvadivel’s Twitter account has since then been pulled down.
