MUAR: Police will investigate videos showing an express bus driver using a mobile phone and smoking while driving to the Tangkak toll plaza from Kuala Lumpur.
The videos went viral over the Internet today.
Muar district police headquarters public order and traffic chief ASP Suhaimi Ahmad said police would look into the videos, believed to have been uploaded by the individual who recorded the incident.
“We will look into the videos, as well as the photos shared, and will summon the driver to assist in the investigation,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
Suhaimi said police would also contact the bus company in order to ascertain the identity of the driver before taking further action.
“We look at this matter seriously and further investigation will be done before opening an investigation paper on the case,” he added.
Meanwhile, efforts to seek clarification over the videos from the bus company failed.
Two video clips, which lasted 17 and 19 minutes respectively, were posted by a Facebook user by the name of Firdaus Wong Wai Hung (Official) seven hours ago.
Firdaus Wong claimed the videos were uploaded while he was on board the bus heading to Muar from the South Integrated Terminal in Bandar Tasik Selatan.
As at 9.55pm, the videos had recorded between 50,000 and 300,000 views.
