No, I’m not replacing mum in Permatang Pauh, says Nurul Izzah

KUALA LUMPUR: Lembah Pantai incumbent Nurul Izzah Anwar has dismissed speculation that she will be standing as the Permatang Pauh candidate, replacing her mother Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

“We (PKR leadership) are still in the midst of discussing the seat allocations,” she told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur High Court today.

The PKR vice-president said the suggestion that she was contesting in the PKR stronghold was only a rumour.

“I am going to Johor tomorrow and I hope there will be no rumours of me going to contest there,” she said.

Yesterday, FMT quoted a source as saying that Wan Azizah, who is also the PKR president, will contest in the Pandan constituency presently held by Rafizi Ramli, among many significant seat changes at the coming polls.

The source also said PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali could be transferred to the Ampang seat, while former Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah was being considered for the Petaling Jaya parliamentary seat, formerly known as Petaling Jaya Selatan.
