Ahmed Abdullah Ali, 24, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

He was charged with causing the death of Telekom Malaysia employee Wan Amirah Wan Alias, 31, at Shaftsbury Square, Cyberjaya, at 7.35pm on Oct 17.

The final year student of an international university nodded after the charge was read out before Magistrate Yusna Khadijah Md Yusop, but no charge was recorded.

The court set Dec 7 for mention pending reports on the victim’s post-mortem and CCTV recording.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Aziat Afrizan Alias.

Meanwhile, in the Sessions Court here, Ahmed was charged under Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 with administering to himself the drug 11-Nor-Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol-9-Carboxylic Acid, read together with Section 38B of the same law.

He was also charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code with voluntarily causing grievous hurt on a foreign student, Basel Giumaa El Maarfi, 20, with a long knife at Hyve Soho Suite Cyberjaya at about 4.45 am last Aug 30.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Judge Harith Shan Mohamed Yasin did not allow Ahmed bail and fixed Dec 7 for mention.

Lawyers Mohd Redzuan Mohamed Yusoff, Nur Siti Fairuz Roslan and Dinesh Muthal represented Ahmed in both courts.
