Rafidah ready to join PPBM but says ‘I’m no Tok Pa’

The former trade minister was quick to distance herself from Mustapa Mohamed who defected to the party recently.

Former international trade minister Rafidah Aziz says she had joined the Pakatan Harapan campaign during the general election out of a desire to see a change in government.
PETALING JAYA:
Former international trade minister Rafidah Aziz has expressed interest in joining PPBM, but was quick to distance herself from another former international trade minister, Mustapa Mohamed, who joined the Umno splinter party recently.

“Don’t lump me in the same group as Tok Pa,” she was quoted as saying by Berita Harian today, referring to Mustapa.

“I am Rafidah Aziz. I decide what I want to do. I don’t follow others. I don’t care what they do, whether they leap like a frog or whatever. I am not joining PPBM because some fool is joining it,” said Rafidah, who was expelled from Umno before the May elections over her views condemning then prime minister Najib Razak.

Rafidah said she had joined the Pakatan Harapan campaign during the general election out of a desire to see a change in government, adding that at her age, she was no longer interested in positions.

“I am 75 years old. I have retired. Enough is enough,” said Rafidah, who had served under Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is PPBM chairman, during his previous 22-year administration.
