Treasury official’s secretary remanded over RM1.5 million bribe

She allegedly received the bribe from a company which wanted a tender for the sale of a piece of government property in Hong Kong.

PUTRAJAYA: The secretary to a senior Treasury official has been remanded for five days for allegedly accepting RM1.5 million in bribes.

Magistrate Ahmad Afiq Hasan issued the order following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today.

According to an MACC source, the woman, 39, was arrested at her office at about 7pm yesterday.

She allegedly solicited RM1.5 million from a representative of a property company which wanted a tender for the sale of a piece of government property in Hong Kong.

It is learnt that the woman had obtained part of the payment.
