No factions or split in PKR, says Anwar

Asked about Mohamed Azmin Ali's absence from party leadership meetings, the PKR president says Azmin has explained his absence.

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim
KUALA TERENGGANU:
There is neither a split nor two camps in PKR, party president Anwar Ibrahim said today.

He said this when asked about the absence of PKR’s deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali from several PKR leadership meetings prior to this.

Anwar said Azmin had already submitted the reasons for most of his absences and the party therefore need not take any action against him.

‘’There is a regulation whereby if you do not attend three times in a row without reasons, you would be dropped from your post.

“Sometimes, these people will try to give excuses, so the disciplinary board will scrutinise to see if the excuses are right or not,’’ he told reporters after attending a dialogue with the community and NGOs here today.

Anwar said what was more important was that the party continued to run as normal, and party leaders and members continued to be loyal and championed the ideals of the party’s struggle.
