No discussions to form back door govt with Umno, says Melaka PPBM

The state PPBM chief dismisses speculation as 'empty talk by people with interest'.

Melaka PPBM chief Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof says there is no reason to change the state government through the back door.
MELAKA:
PPBM said it did not receive any mandate from the top party leadership to conduct discussions on a “back door” state government with the opposition.

Melaka PPBM chief Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof said the party would stand firm with its Pakatan Harapan (PH) partners to maintain the present state government and fulfil the responsibilities entrusted by the voters in the last general election.

“PH had wanted to change the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) government, so there is no reason now to change the government through the back door (with BN).

“There has been no discussion at all at the highest level. This is empty talk by people with interest. Maybe they want to gather support or certain posts.

“We cannot run away from the people’s mandate by changing the government in an undemocratic way. Melaka PPBM stands firm with the leadership of Chief Minister Adly Zahari,’’ he told Bernama.

On Friday, a news portal reported that there was a move to replace the leadership of Adly through the formation of a back door government with the cooperation of two state executive councillors, who were not named.

On the meeting between Melaka PPBM deputy chief Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen and Umno representatives recently, Redzuan said it was done in a personal capacity and not on behalf of PPBM.

He said PPBM had no problem with its leaders meeting with anybody, including from the opposition, in their personal capacities especially to discuss matters for the good of the people, state and country.

Asked about an allegation by Melaka opposition leader Idris Haron that Adly was weak, could not control his exco members and was at the mercy of DAP, Redzuan said he did not see such things taking place in the state government.

“Adly faces certain challenges because we are from various parties in PH but we support him,” he said.
