Hadi said PAS and Umno’s Chinese ally MCA, whose candidate is contesting the Tanjung Piai by-election on Nov 16, had reached a consensus to work together despite their differences.
“Cut off the hands of anyone who wants to punch a hole in this ship.
“Teach them a lesson in Tanjung Piai. The MCA candidate represents all of us, not just one race,” he said at a Barisan Nasional (BN) ceramah in Kampung Rimba Terjun last night.
Hadi had said that PAS would back MCA’s Wee Jeck Seng in the coming by-election as Malay-Muslims were already an overwhelming majority in its alliance with BN.
He said the outcome of the Tanjung Piai polls would serve as an indicator for the next general election.
“Right now, the opposition consists of a big majority of Malays only. We need seats filled by non-Muslims who are not extreme. We reject extremist parties,” said Hadi, who in the past said Muslims should never choose a non-Muslim candidate over a Muslim.
“PAS has a different agreement with MCA. We’re not in a pact but a coalition, but DAP will say we are in a pact.”
