Mahathir’s Pakatan Harapan, meanwhile, also said it had the backing of 114 MPs.
However, at least two MPs have disputed the list of 114 MPs that Mahathir released last night, with Bukit Gantang’s Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal and Sri Aman’s Masir Kujat saying they favour Muhyiddin.
The swearing-in before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, scheduled for 10.30am, follows a week-long crisis, with supporters of both sides scrambling for backing for their candidate to lead the nation.

Yesterday, the palace – after granting audiences to several parties – announced that Muhyiddin, 73, would be sworin in as the new prime minister in accordance with Article 40(2)(a) and Article 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution.
The historic ceremony will be aired live on television.
Muhyiddin, the Pagoh MP, is expected to head a new coalition government called Perikatan Nasional comprising PPBM, Umno, PAS and other MPs, including several ex-PKR MPs who followed Mohamed Azmin Ali out of the party.
Sarawak’s GPS coalition, while supporting Muhyiddin as PM, said it would stay out of the new coalition.
PH, originally comprising PPBM, PKR, DAP and Amanah, had been in power since it won the 14th general election in 2018.
