KUCHING:
Sarawak reported 11 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the total to 20.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee chairman Douglas Uggah Embas said eight of the cases were reported in Miri and one each in Kuching, Bintulu and Sarikei.

In a statement, he said the eight cases in Miri were linked to the cluster attending the recent tabligh gathering at the Sri Petaling mosque in Kuala Lumpur.

However, health authorities were still identifying the source of infection of the other three individuals.

Sarawak reported its first three cases of Covid-19 on Friday after three individuals from Kuching who attended the tabligh gathering tested positive for the virus.

Uggah said a special task force was continuing to track more than 400 people who flew into the state from Kuala Lumpur through the four airports between March 2 and 5.

About 10,000 people were said to have attended the Kuala Lumpur gathering from Feb 27 to March 1.

Meanwhile, Deputy Health Minister Aaron Dagang today proposed that any gathering of more than 50 people be postponed.

He said the people could keep up with the latest developments through the Sarawak disaster information Facebook page.
