
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 685 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 19,757.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the 649 new cases bring the total number of infections in the country to 30,090.
No new casualties were reported, with the death toll at 246.
A total of 10,087 people are still being treated, with 106 receiving intensive care and 23 requiring respiratory assistance.
Seven of today’s 649 new cases are imported.
Noor Hisham said Sabah had 352 new cases today, or 54.2% of today’s total. A total of 170 of Sabah’s new cases were detected via contact tracing, with 55 cases detected from clusters.
Selangor recorded 132 cases, 70 from clusters.
Other areas which recorded new cases were Negeri Sembilan (43), Kedah (37), Labuan (17), Penang (13), Johor (10), Sarawak (8) and Perak (5). Pahang, Melaka, Terengganu and Putrajaya each recorded one case.
Most of these cases came from existing clusters and screening of close contacts of positive cases.
