In a Facebook post, Shahrir remarked that Shahidan, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Backbenchers Club chairman, was “aggressive” in defending the budget.
“And he is a Barisan Nasional (BN) MP. BN is not even in PN. How can he become the PN backbenchers’ chairman?” Shahrir asked.
Debating the budget proposals in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, Shahidan said those who vote against the budget are betraying the trust of the rakyat.
Previously, BN Backbenchers Club chairman Najib Razak said the coalition’s support for the budget hinged on two amendments – the extension of the automatic loan moratorium and allowing Employees Provident Fund withdrawals of RM10,000.
“Now Shahidan is using the term ‘betrayal’ against those who do not support the budget. (He is) really desperate to defend the budget,” said Shahrir.
The former Johor Bahru MP also took a swipe at PPBM, the PN lynchpin, saying it was filled with those who “betrayed their friends” in Pakatan Harapan and Umno.
