Couple found dead in house, three days after moving in

It is believed they died due to the smoke from burning charcoal but no criminal element has been found.

Police were alerted after friends of the victims could not get in contact with them.
KUALA LUMPUR:
A couple was found dead at a three-storey house they had rented on Jalan Medang Serai, Bangsar here this morning, just three days after they had moved in.

Friends who tried to contact them alerted police after failing to get through.

Brickfields police chief Anuar Omar said it was believed that the couple had burned charcoal and closed the door and windows before going to sleep. Medical officers confirmed that they died at around 6am to 7am due to asphyxiation.

Police also discovered a note from the victims, who had been married since 2018, addressed to their family.

“According to a close acquaintance of the victims, the couple had never shared about any problems they were facing and did not have any enemies.

“Both bodies have been taken to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for post-mortem and the case has been classified as sudden death,” he said in a statement today.

Anuar said police were first alerted to the incident around noon today, after the friend could not get in contact with the couple despite multiple phone calls.

At around 11am, the friend obtained the house key from the homeowner and went to the house, where he found both victims unconscious in the bedroom. The couple had rented the house on April 6 through an online platform.
