
In a statement today, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said two localities in Tawau, Sabah – Taman Tawau Lama and Kampung Batu Payung – will come under an EMCO after five and eight positive cases were recorded there respectively.
In Kelantan, the Nurul Aman Tahfiz Science College in Kok Lanas, Kota Bharu, will also be under an EMCO after 31 positive cases were recorded.
Meanwhile, in Pahang, the Aminuddin Baki Institute and staff quarters in Bentong will be under an EMCO after 15 positive cases were recorded.
Ismail said a total of 82 people were arrested yesterday for flouting the MCO, all of whom were issued a compound fine.
The offences include failing to wear a face mask, failing to register prior to entering premises and failing to observe physical distancing.
Meanwhile, a total of 3,594 compliance task force teams were deployed to conduct checks on 30,480 supermarkets, restaurants, hawker stalls, factories, banks, government offices, as well as land, water and air transport terminals.
The authorities also detained three undocumented migrants yesterday as part of the ongoing Op Benteng campaign. Four vehicles were also seized.
On mandatory home quarantine, Ismail said 175,205 people who arrived through KLIA were screened for Covid-19 from July 24 to April 15 and were placed under quarantine.
1,443 tested positive and were sent to hospital for treatment, while 166,545 have been allowed to return home.
7,217 people are undergoing mandatory quarantine.
