PETALING JAYA:
Communications and multimedia minister Saifuddin Abdullah has tested positive for Covid-19.

The minister’s office said he will be quarantined at home while waiting to be admitted to hospital.

FMT was made to understand that Saifuddin was not present at the Cabinet meeting yesterday.

“Saifuddin tested positive for Covid-19 after obtaining the results of his tests last night, April 28. The minister will complete the quarantine period as advised and will be closely monitored by the health ministry,” it said in a statement today.

It added that the minister would continue to ensure that the ministry’s matters go on without any hitches, even while under quarantine and treatment.

“Saifuddin thanks all parties for praying for his recovery and apologises over the inconvenience that has been caused by this situation.”

In January, several government leaders had also been infected, including home minister Hamzah Zainudin, economic affairs minister Mustapa Mohamed, women, family and community development minister Rina Harun and national unity minister Halimah Sadique.
