3,120 Covid-19 cases, 23 deaths

There are 31,516 active cases with 338 patients being treated in intensive care and 181 requiring respiratory assistance.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 3,120 Covid-19 cases and 23 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 2,334 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 387,542.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 420,632.

There are 31,516 active cases with 338 patients being treated in intensive care and 181 requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the 23 deaths take the number of fatalities to 1,574.

There were 3,114 local infections comprising 2,918 Malaysians and 196 foreigners as well as six imported cases.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases today with 675, of which 493 were detected at clusters and screening of close contacts.

This was followed by Sarawak with 620 infections, Kuala Lumpur (408), Johor (336), Kelantan (296), Penang (167), Kedah (155), Perak (117), Negeri Sembilan (95), Sabah (89), Terengganu (53), Melaka (52), Pahang (41), Putrajaya (11) and Labuan (5).

Perlis did not record any cases today.

There were 70 cases linked to detention centres today, namely the Pagar Sri Lalang (57), Jalan Meru Utama (11) and Pagar Siput Dua (2) clusters.

All 23 deaths today involved Malaysians, aged between 37 and 85. All had existing medical conditions.
