3 in a car allowed for medical, vaccination trips

Police say those travelling for medical, vaccination purposes must show proof of appointment.

A large part of Selangor and 14 housing estates in Kuala Lumpur will come under EMCO from tomorrow until July 16.
PETALING JAYA:
Police will now allow three people in a car, including the driver, to travel for medical and vaccination appointments in EMCO areas throughout the country.

Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said in a statement today that those travelling for these reasons are required to show proof of appointment via the MySejahtera app, hospital or clinic card, or SMS at roadblocks.

Under earlier SOPs for EMCO areas in most parts of Selangor, only the driver was allowed to travel to purchase necessities within a 10km radius of their residence, including for the purpose of vaccination. In the case of e-hailing vehicles, only one passenger was allowed.

This raised concerns among netizens who asked what would happen if a caregiver of an aged or disabled person to be vaccinated travelled in the same car during the EMCO period.

A large part of Selangor and 14 housing estates in Kuala Lumpur will come under EMCO from midnight until July 16. Several parts of Sabah, Sarawak and Kelantan will also be under EMCO tomorrow.
