Another eight bodies of suspected Indonesian illegal immigrants have been recovered in Tanjung Balau, Johor.

PETALING JAYA:
Eight more bodies have been found at Tanjung Balau in Kota Tinggi, Johor, after a boat carrying about 50 suspected undocumented immigrants capsized yesterday.

This brings the number of confirmed dead in the incident to 19, with 14 rescued and 17 still missing.

The remains of the eight victims were found between 500m and 2.5km from where the boat capsized.

The boat was believed to have come from Lombok, Indonesia, and capsized in rough weather at about 4.30am.

The search for the remaining victims was ongoing, according to Johor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency deputy director (operations) Simon Templer Lo Ak Tusa.
