
PETALING JAYA: Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN).
In a statement today, IJN said that the former prime minister arrived at 7pm.
“He will be undergoing a full medical check-up and further observation.”
Mahathir is expected to be in IJN for the next few days.
In 2018, Mahathir was treated for a chest infection at the institute and was also admitted for treatment and observation in August 2016.
Mahathir, who is 96, suffered a mild heart attack in 2006.
He has also undergone two bypass surgeries, the first at Kuala Lumpur Hospital in 1989 and the second at IJN in 2007.
