In a statement, Nik Nazmi, who was elected one of PKR’s four vice-presidents, also called on party members to stay united and focus on winning GE15.
“I am confident the Anwar-Rafizi combination is the best ticket for PKR to face GE15.
“Our party’s future is also positive: Rafizi is 44 years old, while Amirudin, 42; Lih Kang 41 and myself, 40.

“This election can and must be a new chapter for our beloved party, one that signals renewal even as we reaffirm our dedication to the cause of Reformasi,” said Nik Nazmi, who also defended his position as Setiawangsa branch chief.
Although official results will only be released next month, Nik Nazmi looks set to have been elected as one of the four vice-presidents alongside Selangor menteri besar Amirudin, Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun, and Tanjong Malim MP Chang Lih Kang.
Rafizi won more than 69,000 votes while Saifuddin won nearly 50,000 votes in the battle for the deputy president’s post. Anwar retained his presidency after being unchallenged for the top post.
Stating that the elections prove that PKR’s members have rejected the so-called “big tent” strategy, Nik Nazmi said they have also sent a “clear signal” that they expect PKR to strengthen its existing Pakatan Harapan coalition.
He said PKR’s members have clearly shown they are against “easy political alliances” and cooperation with forces “which have repeatedly rejected reform, social justice and multiracialism”.
“The time has now come for us to put aside our differences, to close ranks and regain the trust of the rakyat,” he said.
“Our focus must now be on winning GE15 and reversing the disastrous policies of the last two governments. PKR’s elections are over, the work to rebuild Malaysia must begin.”
