PETALING JAYA:
Sarawak PKR and Amanah will be using the Pakatan Harapan logo in the 15th general election (GE15), though DAP will be sticking with its own emblem.

Sarawak DAP had also used its trademark rocket logo during the 14th general election (GE14) in May 2018.

According to The Borneo Post, Sarawak PKR chief Roland Engan said his DAP counterparts believed the party’s logo had sentimental value while some loyal supporters did not want it to use the PH emblem.

Sarawak DAP secretary Alan Ling also said the state chapter was more inclined towards using its own logo, adding that an official statement would be issued soon.

“The national PH has decided to use the PH logo, but we are given the autonomy to decide. That is why there is leeway there,” he said.

Meanwhile, Engan denied claims that Sarawak PKR would be making way for Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) in Julau. The current Julau MP is Larry Sng, who was PBM president until Zuraida Kamaruddin took over the post.

Sng had won the parliamentary seat in GE14 as an independent candidate but later joined PKR. He then left the party last year.

“We have our own candidate there. We are not negotiating with (Sng) in Julau,” Engan said, adding that Sarawak PKR would contest 17 parliamentary seats in GE15, including Kapit and Julau.
