PETALING JAYA:
The conflict between Larry Sng and Zuraida Kamaruddin over the Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) presidency has been resolved.

PBM’s communications department said the party’s top leadership has agreed that Sng will sign the watikah (appointment letter) for its candidates in the 15th general election (GE15).

It said the party will decide on its list of candidates for GE15, which will be announced “soon”.

“Other matters related to the administration of the party will be discussed and resolved after GE15,” it said in a statement.

Both Sng and Zuraida had been going back and forth over who was rightfully the PBM president over the past week.

PBM was formed by Sng, who became its president, while Zuraida was named “president-designate” when she joined the party.

Amid their dispute, Sng had suspended 13 Supreme Council leaders, including Zuraida, the party’s secretary-general and its information chief.

On Sunday, RoS director-general Nawardi Saad confirmed that Sng was still PBM president. However, Zuraida insisted that she was the rightful president.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of the article said the meeting took place at RoS’ office. PBM has since issued a corrected statement to omit where the meeting took place. The article has been amended in line with PBM’s amended statement.
