Warisan completes candidates list for all 25 seats in Sabah

The Shafie Apdal-led party will also contest the sole parliamentary seat in Labuan.

Warisan president Shafie Apdal will be among several party leaders defending their parliamentary seats in Sabah.

Warisan president Shafie Apdal has announced another 13 candidates for the 15th general election (GE15), completing the list for all 25 seats it is contesting in Sabah.

In total, the party will contest 53 parliamentary seats, including 27 in Peninsular Malaysia and one in Labuan.

Former Labuan MP Rozman Isli, and Ma’mun Sulaiman, the former Kalabakan MP, will both defend seats they won at the last general election.

Sekong assemblyman Alias Sani has been slated to contest the Batu Sapi parliamentary seat previously held by former law minister Liew Vui Keong.  The seat has remained vacant since Liew’s passing in October 2020.

Shafie also announced that his brother, Yusof, will contest the Lahad Datu parliamentary seat. Yusof is a former state assemblyman, having held the state seat of Lahad Datu (now known as Silam) between 1985 and 1989.

Other candidates nominated for parliamentary seats include Joanna Sue Henley Rampas (Tuaran), Ahmad Mohd Said (Putatan), Masri Adul (Beaufort), Siti Noorhasmahwatty Osman (Pensiangan), Rowiena Rasid (Beluran), Sharip Bokrata Hassan (Libaran), Ismail Ayub (Kinabatangan), Rasinin Kautis (Keningau) and Ukim Buandi (Tenom).

Warisan will also field Jamil Hamzah in the Bugaya by-election. The state seat fell vacant following the passing of its incumbent, Warisan’s Manis Muka Mohd Darah on Nov 17, 2020.

Shafee had previously announced that he will defend Semporna seat.  Other Warisan leaders defending their seats include Darell Leiking (Penampang), Azis Jamman (Sepanggar) and Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis (Kota Belud).

Warisan’s other candidates are Rashid Harun (Kudat), Jilid Kuminding (Kota Marudu), Amanda Yeo (Kota Kinabalu), Ahmad Hassan (Papar), Dr Daud Yusof (Kimanis), Adnan Puteh (Sipitang), Markos Siton (Ranau), Alex Thien (Sandakan) and Chen Ket Chuin (Tawau).

Three additional candidates were named for seats in Peninsular Malaysia. Leong Cheuk Lung and Rahim Awang will be vying for parliamentary seats in Kampar and Kapar, respectively, while Leong Cheok Keng will stand for the Malim Nawar state seat in Perak.
