In an interview with Sinar Harian, Khalid accused Johari of having “washed his hands of” the land ownership issues in Kampung Baru.
Khalid, the former federal territories minister, said Johari could not solve the problems in the area, despite being a finance minister while serving as Titiwangsa MP from 2013 to 2018.
Yesterday, Johari had questioned why Khalid did not resolve the land ownership issues in Kampung Baru, while serving as the federal territories minister, in response to Khalid’s earlier claims that Johari did not defend the rights of those in the Malay settlement whose lands had been seized under the Land Acquisition Act.
Khalid said that as federal territories minister, he had proposed the development of Kampung Baru at a high price. “I had also spoken out when BN wanted to use the Land Acquisition Act to seize Kampung Sungai Baru at a low price,” he said in the Sinar Harian interview.
Khalid, who was formerly MP for Shah Alam, denied that he had been sent to contest in Titiwangsa to be “slaughtered”. He said Amanah had entrusted him with Titiwangsa as he was the best candidate, given his track record.
He boasted of the success of the Kuala Lumpur football team under his leadership as among factors that made him the best candidate to win the Titiwangsa seat.
Khalid and Johari will be up against Khairuddin Abu Hassan of Pejuang and Dr Rosni Adam of Perikatan Nasional in the general election on Nov 19.
