
According to the social welfare department’s InfoBencana website, the number of flood victims in Selangor has surged to 163 from 46 families this morning, up from 126 from 36 families last night.
Three relief centres are in operation, at SK Sungai Sireh, SMK Jeram and SJKC Yuk Chih Batang Berjuntai.
In Melaka, 66 individuals from 21 families are at relief centres as of 8am today, up from 51 (16 families) as of 8pm yesterday.
In a statement, the secretariat for the Melaka disaster management committee said the relief centre at the Kesidang development and coordination committee (Japerun) office is housing nine victims, involving three families, from Melaka Tengah.
The relief centre at Balai Raya Kampung Gadek is housing 12 victims from six families, while the relief centre at Dewan Japerun Durian Tunggal is accommodating 45 from 12 families.
In Kelantan, the social welfare department’s InfoBencana portal reported that the number of flood victims as of 9am today stands at 2,124, compared with 713 last night. They are at eight relief centres in the Pasir Mas district.
Meanwhile, Infobanjir says the reading for Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas, which exceeded the danger level at 9.13m, has subsided from 9.34m last night.
In Kedah, 61 victims from the districts of Kulim and Baling have been evacuated to two relief centres following two hours of continuous heavy rain last night.
Kulim civil defence officer Amirul Aliff Ahmaf said 42 victims from 11 families were evacuated to a relief centre at Masjid Sungai Seluang, while 19 others, involving seven families, were evacuated to a relief centre at Surau Ittifaqih in Baling which was opened at 7.30pm yesterday.
The irrigation and drainage department’s InfoBanjir web page states that Sungai Padang Terap in Kampung Kubu, Padang Terap has recorded a water level of 13.14m, which is above its danger level of 13.02m, and was still rising as at 8am today.
In Johor, four districts have been hit by flash floods, namely Tangkak, Kluang, Segamat and Pontian, with 335 evacuees recorded as at 8am today, up from 318 people last night.
According to the district disaster management committee, these flood victims, from 85 families, have been evacuated to six relief centres.
The weather in some of the districts was reported to be cloudy, including in Muar, Johor Bahru, and Kluang.
In Perak, there are still 235 flood victims at six relief centres in the state, with two more centres opened in Perak Tengah due to floods caused by an overflow of water from Sungai Perak.
The two relief centres are at Surau Nurul Jannah, Kampung Parit Enam, Layang-Layang Kiri and at SK Simpang Tiga, Parit.
