Muhyiddin, who is also Bersatu president, said he was informed of this by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Abang Johari Openg at a meeting this morning.
Muhyiddin said Gabungan Rakyat Sabah chairman Hajiji Noor had also informed him that the coalition’s MPs would back him as the next prime minister.
“Several other MPs have also given their commitment,” he said in a statement this evening.
“As the PN chairman, I am confident that I have obtained the majority support to be appointed as the 10th prime minister,” he said.
Last night Muhyiddin announced that PN had enough numbers to form the next government.
Abang Johari said earlier today that GPS will form a coalition with PN, Barisan Nasional and GRS to establish the next government.
However, BN has not decided on the matter yet, FMT has learnt.
Muhyiddin was appointed the country’s eighth prime minister in 2020, following the collapse of Pakatan Harapan after the Sheraton Move. He resigned 17 months later, after losing his parliamentary majority when Umno, then a part of his government, decided to retract their support for him as prime minister.
