KUALA LUMPUR:
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will announce the lineup of deputy ministers at 8.15pm after his audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

He said he will have an audience with Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah this evening.

“InsyaAllah (God willing), the deputy ministers will be announced at 8.15pm,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after Friday prayers at Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru. Earlier, he had lunch at a local restaurant with Titiwangsa MP Johari Abdul Ghani and religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar.

Anwar announced his 28-member Cabinet line-up last Friday. It comprises two deputy prime ministers for the first time, with Anwar taking on the role of finance minister.

The Cabinet comprises members from Pakatan Harapan (15 ministers) through PKR, DAP, Amanah and Upko; BN (six) through Umno; Gabungan Parti Sarawak (five) through PBB, PRS and PDP; and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (one) through Sabah Bersatu. Na’im is not a member of any political party.

Berita Harian reported that at least 35 names had been put forward as deputy ministers from PH, BN, GPS, GRS and Warisan. Quoting sources, it said names from other parties were also being considered.
