KUALA LUMPUR: Economy minister Rafizi Ramli says he and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim do not consume ganja, after they were sent a parcel believed to contain a tube of toothpaste with cannabis leaf extract.
“I don’t know (who sent it). It was sent to the office and I didn’t open it myself as it was addressed to the prime minister and myself,” said Rafizi.
“None of us use ganja… so I think it’s a waste,” he said in jest.
Rafizi, who was speaking to reporters at Parliament today, added that the package would have been brought away by the police.
Sepang police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said yesterday the parcel contained a tube of toothpaste bearing a cannabis leaf logo and the words “Happy Green” on it.
The sender, with an address in Indonesia, had bought the item through an online platform.
Kamarul said police raided the courier office following a report lodged by a government officer who received a phone call about the parcel.
He said the office had also received a parcel containing cannabis leaves last week.
