Police opened fire on a Proton Wira in Kepong this morning, after the car driver refused to stop.
PETALING JAYA:
Two police motorcycle officers opened fire on a car in Kepong this morning after the driver failed to stop when ordered to.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Shuhaily Zain said a Sentul police motorcycle patrol unit saw the two occupants of a green Proton Wira behaving suspiciously and ordered it to stop at about 7.45am.

However, the driver refused to stop and took police on a chase from Taman Pusat Kepong to Laman Rimbunan and Jalan Kepong.

Shuhaily said when the officers again tried to stop the car, it crashed into a car.

When the driver reversed his car, it hit the motorcycle carrying the policemen, injuring them.

The video shows the car slowing down in traffic and the officers chasing after it on foot and firing nine shots at the car’s tyres.

The car sped off, hitting other vehicles.

Shuhaily said the car later veered off the road and the two men inside escaped.

He said police have identified the two men in the car and were looking for them.

The case is being investigated for attempted murder and using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty under Sections 307/353 of the Penal Code.

A video of the policemen shooting at the car’s tyres has since gone viral.

Shuhaily urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has any further information to contact the police.
