Call for PAS to leave PN nonsensical, says youth chief

Ahmad Fadhli Shaari says Puad Zarkashi's proposal should not be entertained.

PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said Barisan Nasional should quit the unity government to strengthen the position of Islam.
PETALING JAYA:
PAS Youth has dismissed calls by an Umno leader for the Islamic party to leave the opposition coalition and join the unity government.

The wing’s chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said such suggestions were nonsensical and the proposal mooted by Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi should not be entertained.

Instead, he said Barisan Nasional should quit the unity government, citing the same reason Puad had given when suggesting PAS leave Perikatan Nasional – to strengthen the position of Islam.

“Puad should always think rationally instead of coming up with such wild suggestions,” Fadhli, who is also the PN Youth chief, told FMT.

Earlier today, Puad proposed that PAS leave PN instead of wasting time “issuing various fatwas” that divided the Malay community.

“It’s better (for PAS) to be in the government to stabilise politics, build the nation, as well as promote the Islamic agenda, Malay interests, and equality,” he said in a Facebook post.

Puad had said this when responding to former Umno veteran Annuar Musa who claimed that the party was no longer relevant. Annuar is now with PAS.
